“Earth Hour is a great way to show global support for action on climate change but just as important are the changes we each make in our own lives. WWF hopes people will use Earth Hour to think about the changes they can make every day to help make a difference.” Gerald Butts, President & CEO, WWF Canada

We’re just days away from Earth Hour 2010 and this campaign has evolved from an event held in a single city (Sydney, Australia – 2007) to a global initiative touching billions of people in over 120 countries worldwide. Incredible growth inspired by a powerful message. Take action!
Learning to live a greener lifestyle is crucial if we want to protect the environment for generations to come, and the best way to make a real difference is to begin implementing simple lifestyle changes that focus on conservation and sustainability.
As we’ve discussed in previous weeks, this blog was designed to make your home and your community a better place to live. Whether it’s switching to CFL light bulbs, leaving the car at home, eliminating energy vampires, or shopping for local and organic produce – the objective remains the same: do what we can as individuals to make a difference. Remember, small actions by many people equal big change!
In this week’s video, I had the privilege of speaking with Tara Wood, Head of Press for WWF Canada who shared more info about Earth Hour, WWF Canada’s mission and the steps they are taking to lead by example in the fight against climate change.
So on Saturday, March 27 at 8:30 pm support Earth Hour, turn off your lights and help make a difference. And don’t stop there! Spread the word, share ideas with friends and family and don’t wait until March 2011 to do more – find ways of squeezing as many “Earth Hours” as you can into each and every day.
