I make sure that both my and my sons’ cars contain a sturdy snow-scraper (a long-handled one, and a short-handled one), a collapsible snow shovel, a mason jar with a stubby candle and a small box of Redbird waterproof safety matches, a bag with an extra pair of gloves, hat, socks, dickie, a medium size ziploc freezer bag of road salt, and a one-foot-square piece of course berber-type carpeting, to provide traction for wheels spinning on icy roads. Also, a box of granola bars and 2 bottles of water for the glovebox.
